Self-Love Is The Best Love: A Gentle Reminder To Love Yourself A Little Extra This Month

Always Love Yourself

Source: LWL

It is officially the month of love!

For many, February is a hard month especially on February 14th because of the negative connotation that surrounds Valentines Day.

Many believe that Valentine's Day is only a romantic holiday but this could not be further from the truth. Yes, Valentine’s Day does celebrate romantic love but that is not the only type of love that can be celebrated on this day.

This year for Valentine’s Day celebrate self-love!

Before you can love someone else, you have to love yourself first.

This is such a true statement because loving yourself is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Being comfortable within yourself on the inside and outside is very beneficial as well because you don’t rely on anyone else but yourself to make YOU happy.

You are responsible for your own happiness at the end of the day.

So how can you be happy within yourself if you don’t love yourself?

There isn’t one right way to start loving yourself but you can start by taking time out for yourself throughout your day.

You can also start off by figuring out what your interests/hobbies are.

You have to start learning about yourself so you can attend to your own needs, wants, and desires.

Personally, when I started my self-love journey I really wanted to figure out what makes me happy.

For me I learned that taking time out for myself is what truly makes me happy.

I love taking a little time out of my day to just dedicate it to myself and whatever activity I’m interested in that day.

It usually depends but it's often something very simple.

Some examples include: getting my favorite meal, taking a little more time to get ready, and watching my favorite show or movie.

As a college student, sometimes I find myself getting caught up with class, assignments, and extracurriculars that sometimes I burn out.

So these little actions really do a lot for me.

I also started saying affirmations but not only saying affirmations but believing them as well.

This really boosted the appreciation I have for myself and my life too.

It really grounds me and makes me stop and just be grateful for all of the many blessings in my life.

I recommend this for anyone that wants to start their self-love journey.

So this Valentines Day, I challenge you to love yourself a little extra.

Treat yourself! Go on a solo-date, watch that movie you’ve been wanting to watch, get dressed up for yourself and take instagram pictures.

No matter what you do, just love yourself!
