Mid-Year Reset : How To Realign, Refocus, & Reclaim Your Goals

Time to check in, queen.

Welcome Back Lovelies

Can you believe that we're halfway through the year? If things haven't been going the way you planned, don't worry! This is your sign to sit back, relax, and hit the reset button to realign your energy and come back harder to finish this year out strong.

Before we jump into this week's blog post, I want to take a moment to thank you all for the outpouring of love and support you've shown in my last blog posts. Y'all keep me going and I am just so excited about the direction that LWL is going. I have so many ideas for blog posts and content so stay tuned!

For today's blog post, we're talking about how to realign, refocus, and reclaim your goals as we prepare to do our mid-year reset! If you've been feeling unmotivated or off track we're gonna talk about innovative ways to start your goals again without the side of guilt; because this isn't about starting over but refocusing and making intentional plans to finish this year strong.

Without further ado, let's jump into how we can reset our mindsets to make the rest of this year count!

“I can be changed by what happens to me. But I refuse to be reduced by it.”

— Maya Angelou

Welcome to your mid-year reset. We're six months into the new year, and that means it's time to revisit those goals that we made at the beginning of the year. It's okay, if you've fallen behind, but you owe it to yourself to realign and get back on track. It's so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and forget to take care of yourself. Life moves fast but take this as your opportunity to take a step back and ask yourself: How can I pour back into myself for the remainder of the year? A reset isn't about starting over but doing what feels right. The truth is that you can always strive to achieve your goals no matter if it's the beginning, middle, or end of the year. All you have to do is commit to showing up for yourself and maintaining that discipline until you reach your goals and beyond.

Honestly, the past 6 months have been challenging, to say the least, so that doesn't leave much room to focus on my goals. With work, school, and life I forgot to check in with myself. At the beginning of the year, I made so many plans and goals and have worked towards some of them but not all. For a long time, this bothered me. I realized though, that life is not linear and neither is growth. I do not have to wait for the new year, to restart my goals, I can commit to myself today.

Before recommitting to my goals, I took a moment to ask myself a few honest questions to figure out which ones were truly worth pursuing :

  • What goals still matter to me?

  • What habits are draining me instead of feeding me?

  • What does the best version of me need right now?

Realign with Intention

So what does this mean? It means taking a moment to reevaluate the last few months and being honest with yourself about where you are and where you want to go. As we previously discussed, recommitting to your goals isn't about starting all the way over but meeting yourself where you are.

It means asking yourself: Does this goal still matter to me? Is this goal still in alignment with the life I want to create for myself? If the answer is no, let it go. If the answer is yes. Let's brainstorm new ways to effectively accomplish these goals.

For example, you don't have to create an elaborate routine to achieve your goals, just start small and set realistic goals. This time, it's not about just checking boxes but prioritizing yourself.

Refocusing Through Discipline

With recommitment though, there must come discipline. A common misconception is that being disciplined is about being strict but it is the opposite. It's about committing to the life you claimed you wanted, even when it's hard.

Discipline is about showing up for yourself in the moments that no one is watching. It's about doing things that no one, but yourself is forcing you to do. This will look different to everyone but it's ultimately about pouring into yourself- choosing the long-term reward over the short-term comfort. At the heart of it, it's about being kind to yourself and forgiving yourself when you fall short because you will at least once. The true testament to dedication is choosing to show up again anyway after falling short.

Motivation alone is not enough to keep us going, it's a discipline that builds consistency. Consistency is when the growth will truly begin. Discipline is a form of self-love. Think of it as a promise to yourself when things get hard. I recommended setting small goals and rewarding yourself each time you accomplish them.

Reclaiming Your Goals

In my experience, reclaiming your goals means reimagining how these goals will benefit you in the long run. You're allowing yourself to try again without guilt. Sometimes, I have to remind myself, that I am just in my twenties. The beginning of my twenties at that! I don't have to accomplish every single goal right at that moment.

If that resonated with you in any way, always remember that you are exactly where you're supposed to be. Stop overthinking and comparing yourself to others. Comparison is truly the thief of joy, and once you realize that, you can start showing up for yourself. Reclaiming your goals brings you one step closer to the woman that you always wanted to be, so don't give up on her.

In conclusion, just realign, refocus, and reclaim your goals to remind yourself that you're capable of accomplishing anything you put your mind to, on your terms!
